Going Back To The Starting Line

Standard

Sometimes when I feel at a cross roads with my faith and my walk with God I go back to the beginning.  The reason I use this strategy is because I figure there is some type of wrong thinking that has entered into my brain and that the enemy has side tracked me with it.  If I go back to the start then I can renew my faith and hope.

This time it went a little deeper than that.  There is something deep within me that needs healing.  I have worked through it for a couple of days now and today I took a break to just reacquaint myself with who God is.  I haven’t had any great revelations about what the healing is.  It’s mostly been things that I thought I had already surrendered.  Maybe that is the point, maybe I haven’t surrendered them and He is revealing that.  Anyway, here are the verses that came up in the book I am reading to take a look at who God is.  Powerful stuff!!

In Isaiah 45: 5-7 God tells me that He is the only one and that there is no other God.  He is a God who prepares us before we even know Him.  There is no God beside Him.  He forms the light, creates the darkness, causes well-being and calamity.  He does all these things.

Psalm 103:19 Tells me that God established His throne in the heavens and that He is sovereign over everything.

Jeremiah 32:17-19, and 27  Tells me that God made the heavens and the earth with great power and His outstretched arms.  He is full of kindness but is also just.  The Lord of Hosts is His name.  He is the Lord, God of all flesh.  Nothing is too difficult for Him.

Deuteronomy 32: 3-4 Says that God’s name is proclaimed and He is great.  He is the Rock.  His work is perfect.  All His ways are just.  He is faithful and without injustice.  He is righteous and upright.

Deuteronomy 32:39 Says that God is the only God.  He gives life and He takes it.  He wounds and He heals.  No one can deliver (snatch) anything from His hands.

Revelation 4:11 tells me that God is worthy of honor, glory, and power.  He created all things, because He wants them to exist, they do and were created.

1 Corinthians 8: 4-6 says that God is the only God, the Father.  Everything comes from Him and exists for Him.  There is one Lord, Jesus and we exist through Him and all things are through Him.

Romans 11:33-36 says that God is knowledge and wisdom.  His judgements are unsearchable and His ways are unfathomable.  No one knows His mind, no one can counsel Him.  He is the beginning of all.  From Him, through Him, and to Him are all things.  The glory is His forever.

These verses are just a little peek into the nature of God, but they all point to one thing.  I was made because He wanted me.  I was saved for His pleasure and glory.  If He did that for me then He will surely not let me fall from His hand or deny my well-being.  Just being reminded of this small part of His nature gives me hope that I will not feel the way I feel forever.  I choose to seek His help because I know He will help me.  I choose to seek His help because I owe Him all of me.  If I don’t ask for His healing and His help, I might as well be asking for the enemy to just continue stomping all over me, breaking me down even more.

This journey may not be easy but God is placing some help along the way and I can’t see where it is leading now, I can’t see the big picture, but God is the painter and so I am sure that when it’s done there will definitely be a masterpiece!
