It’s An Experiment

Standard

The term "natural" is applied to man...

Since I am new to juicing I am juicing things that I know that I like in salads, soups, cooked, and raw.  There are a whole combination of fruits that I love but I have to be careful to not overdo the fruits since they are all high in sugar.  Dark greens are high in iron and so this morning I juiced some kale, spinach, pear, apple, cucumber, and carrot.  I mainly used the carrot to force the soft greens to juice.  You need a lot of greens to make juice!  So I learned that if I am going to do green juice I have to add a little citrus or acidic fruit.  My coffee intake has gone down drastically and so has my incessant need to snack.  Who knew?

After I purchased the juicer I watched the movie “Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead”.  It’s a good view and an amazing story of healing through natural foods.  Getting the processed foods to be less of my diet is a good thing!!  I think it’s a wonderful thing for all people to try to do.  We are really a society of convenience foods and it’s killing a large majority of people.

I found a wonderful unflavored whey protein powder that is specially formulated for cooking with.  It blends without the need of a blender or blender cup.  Just a spoon!  Virtually no taste at all.  I have slacked on my protein so it’s crucial for me to get it back into my diet.  As I am drinking this green juice, that does not look appealing at all, I am really learning to like the taste.  It may be because it does an awesome job to get me healthy.  Mind over matter!
