Vacation

Standard

Let”s see, today is supposed to be day one of a vacation.  Matthew came down sick Wednesday evening.  We thought it was just allergies…we were wrong.  It’s definitely a dread virus that has traveled around.  It’s no wonder that he caught it, he’s been run ragged lately between his oldest in Seattle, taking care of me while I was recovering from surgery, taking care of everything else that falls under the me category, and work…

So our plans may get a little skewed.  They already were.  This week has been full of doctor appointments, shopping, errands, and busyness.  Yesterday, when I should have been home doing laundry and packing, I was running around like a chicken with it’s head cut off.  We had a doctor appointment, breakfast, errands, haircuts, returning shoes (only to discover that the receipt has fallen out of the bag, so we ended up exchanging them!) finding a pharmacy that actually had the medication we needed to have filled, in the correct dose, in stock!  5th try was a charm, but we had to spend an hour in traffic to get it!  Then a mad dash home to be able to get Roly to the vet for a shot of steroid before the vet office closed!  YIKES!  We made it, but not by a lot.  Then it was home to do some laundry , cook dinner, pop some much needed pain meds, and finally a time to just sit and relax.  We watched Nacho Libre and I laughed a lot.  It hurt, but that movie has some lines that are just hilarious!!

We were intending to visit a dear friend tonight in Phoenix, she ended up in the hospital for surgery and is just now making it home…So, I am up early finishing laundry and we will be packing this morning and since the two adults are not  in the 100% category, well, you can see this probably means a very late start!  So we are pulling an all night drive to make it to point A.  Since I am still recovering from surgery, Mathew is sick, and Bean can’t drive yet…yeah, this should be interesting!  We may end up stopping for naps, but our schedule is tight, I am praying for the energy and stamina to get it all done and get it done safely!!

Point A. is Matthew’s family, and my family in love.  We are going from cool and usually in the 70′s weather, to so hot it’s going to melt us and make us feel like dying NM.  UGH!!  I keep telling myself it will all be worth it because we are heading into love and good Mexican food!

Clovis, NM

We will be seeing the musical, Texas, on Sunday evening.  I haven’t seen it since I was Berry’s age and I am so excited to see it again.  Horses and history set in the  beautiful Palo Duro Canyon in Texas!  I’m all over that!

After we leave Eastern NM we will be headed North to point B.  My family.  My sister, and two of my brothers will be there, plus some aunts and uncles.  I am anxious to see my parents but I know that this will be one of the hardest trips that we have made there.  My mama is getting to the place in Alzheimer’s where everything, and I do mean everything you tell her, is brand new.  She is usually confused by who people are and why they are there.  Daddy is still in the phase where he is mostly just forgetful of things and time, however, he also has diabetes to complicate the works and apparently a wicked sense of humor that can get him in some mischief. (Not much change there :) , that has always been the case!)  My oldest brother, unable to stand being there any longer, took off for the hills.  I’m disappointed, but not surprised.

Once we leave NM, we are heading for point C., Vegas.  We get to see some adopted family there and Matthew is surprising Berry with a stay in a very cool hotel.  I can’t wait to see her face when we pull up there!  A couple of days relaxing there and we will be heading home.

Trouble, Roly, Mochi, and Spooky are in the very capable hands of our neighbor.  The neighborhood terror moved last week so I feel much safer leaving our house this time around.  Normally I wouldn’t be telling all of this, but since we live on a military base, none of the yahoos can get in!!

I hope to be blogging along the way and being able to post some pictures too.  Since I am using the next two weeks to reset and listen to a lot of the Word, prayer, resting in peace, I should be able to blog about some really good stuff, however, it may become too deep and then I will resort to capturing every detail of vacation to share with you!!

Tell me about it...
